Teenaa koutou and welcome to the Haratua-May 2025 edition of the Waikato Regional Theatre Construction Update.
The focus is now on the interior fitout, where work is progressing well. In the Theatre’s auditorium, the engineering for the stage has begun and work on the complex balcony fronts is progressing well.
The exterior spaces, including Embassy Park, will start to take shape over the coming months as the final vision for the wider site comes to fruition.
Progress on site
Highlights from the last month include the following.
Exterior and interior Hinuera stonework is progressing well.
Extensive progress on the interior fitout, including wall linings, ceiling install, and painting.
Balcony fronts are continuing to be installed.
Roof works were completed.
First shipment of stage engineering equipment has arrived and installation has commenced.
Initial site clearing for the Embassy Park and riverside public realm spaces.
Significant events coming up
The following progress is expected to occur in the next month
Interior fitout will progress into second fix of services and floor coverings throughout.
Heritage façade work will progress around to Sapper Moore-Jones Place.
Second shipment of stage engineering is scheduled for delivery.
Public realm works will progress.
The Theatre from directly above in early April.
