Teenaa koutou and welcome to the first monthly Waikato Regional Theatre Update for 2022.

The New Year has already seen the approval of Construction Management Plans, further progress with demolition on site and the continued ‘soft stripping’ of the former Hamilton Hotel.

Due diligence by way of site investigations has resulted in an extension to the duration of the planned Demolition Phase of site work, which was due to be completed in February but will now run into April, alongside the installation of the façade retention structure around the front of the Hotel.

Overall, the Theatre is still on track to meet the planned completion date of March 2024.

Progress on Site

A great start to 2022 for the Theatre, with the following items now achieved.

  • Continued soft strip of former Hamilton Hotel.
