Teenaa koutou and welcome to October’s Waikato Regional Theatre Construction Update.
Works continues onsite largely as per last month.
The strengthening of the former Hamilton Hotel basement areas has been completed, which will allow deeper excavations to proceed.
The large piling rig has almost completed its work and will be leaving the site soon. It will be replaced by the first of two large cranes, the platforms for which are now being laid.
A new transformer platform is going in at the bottom of Sapper Moore-Jones Place from mid-October, which will require changes to the road around it - the construction team will be working with the local residents and businesses to minimise the impact of this reconfiguration.
Progress on site
September saw the achievement of the following works.
Completion of the demolition of those parts of Hamilton Hotel not being saved.
Piling and Stage 1 excavations.
Completion of heritage basement propping, including shotcrete on to walls.
Removal of asbestos and contaminated soil.
Significant events in the next month
The following is set to be achieved in October.
Completion of piling.
Installation of crane platforms.
Arrival and erection of the first of two cranes.
Installation of transformer pad at bottom of Sapper Moore-Jones place.
A view from Fosters of the 'enabling works' once the cranes are in place.
