Teenaa koutou and welcome to the Haratua-May 2024 edition of Waikato Regional Theatre Construction Update.

Passersby can definitely see the overall structure emerging now, showing the size and scale of the project. As the photo below shows, the steel frame of the building is now above street level at its northern end, alongside the old Hotel façade.  

 

Progress on site

Highlights from the last month.

  • Installation of drainage and pouring of the floor around auditorium’s ‘Circle’ balcony.

  • Continued pouring of shear walls and erection of structural steel across the site.

  • Commencing the blockwork in the ‘back of house’ spaces.

  • Creating the foundation for the control room’s space.

Significant events coming up

The following progress is expected to occur in the next month.

  • Continuing assembly of the steel frame – the structure will get taller and taller.

  • Laying of the Composite Floor (Comflor) in the NW corner of the site.

  • Installation of the roof trusses in the heritage space.

  • Lots more concrete pours for shear walls and floors.
