Kia Ora

Greetings all and welcome to the Waikato Regional Theatre Update for May 2022.

April proved to be as busy a month as any other on site, despite the interruptions of several public holidays.

Demolition, façade retention and accessway works have all been progressing simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the Fosters team have also been busy coordinating with their sub-contractors as they plan the upcoming programme of earthworks.

Winter is coming, so as the elements and the nights close in we hope everyone stays well and warm.

Progress on Site

April saw the achievement of the following.

  • Completion of the façade retention piling.

  • Continuation of soft strip of the Hotel’s internals.

  • Start of Hotel roof removal.

  • Removal of Embassy Park trees.

  • Removal of light poles on Victoria St and Sapper Moore-Jones Place (note streetlights across the streets have been re-angled to compensate for loss of light).

Significant Events in the Next Month

The following is set to happen in May.

  • Pile caps for façade retention installed, then structural frame from late May.

  • Demolition of the rear portion of the Hotel.

  • New wastewater line laid from Embassy Park to Sapper Moore-Jones Place.

  • Temporary access routes constructed through the site.

  • Stage 1 excavation commences after the demolition of Hotel rear.
