Teenaa koutou and welcome to the Waikato Regional Theatre Construction Update.

Progress continues to be made on site, despite the weather challenges of recent weeks. The excavation is now largely completed with only a few small areas left. The tower crane foundations are now in and the first of the two cranes went up last Friday, with the other one due to be erected before the end of the year.

Progress on site

Highlights from November 2022 include the following.

The completion of:

  • The excavation activities across the site - Stages 1 and 2

  • Foundations for the two tower cranes

  • The piling for the new transformer in Sapper Moore-Jones Place.

 

The continuation of:

  • Construction of the raft slab foundations

  • Structural steel shop drawings

  • Composite floor shop drawings

  • Works related to the services in Sapper Moore-Jones Place.

 

Significant events in the next month

The following progress is expected in December.

  • Second tower crane erected on site.

  • Underslab drainage to existing heritage basement.

  • First concrete pour for the raft slab foundations.

  • Completion of the transformer platform and other works related to the services in Sapper Moore-Jones Place.

The project is currently tracking as per dates below, note some amendments to previous editions.

Site set-up          August – October 2021

Demolition          November 2021 – September 2022

Earthworks         June – October 2022

Foundations       October 2022 – January 2023

Structure             November 2022 – March 2023

Envelope             January – April 2023

Fit-out                  March 2023 – May 2024

Completion        June 2024.
