Teenaa koutou and welcome to the Pipiri-June 2023 edition of the Waikato Regional Theatre construction Update.

As we officially enter takurua-winter the construction team are doing well, despite the chillier, darker days.

Progress on site

Highlights from Haratua-May.

Progress on site continues to proceed well, with changes evident week-on-week.

As mentioned in last month’s update, the substantial size of the project means that activities being undertaken across this period will appear to be similar to previous and future updates.

These include:

  • excavation work

  • construction of shear walls

  • erection of structural steel

  • steel reinforcing for the raft slabs

  • fixing the cracks to strengthen the façade.

Significant events coming up

The following progress is expected to occur in Pipiri-June.

  • installation of the composite floor

  • backfill activities

  • shear wall and raft slab activities.

Overall Programme

Completion of the building is now set for the fourth quarter of 2024.

The project’s construction timeline is otherwise currently under review and a new Programme will be issue in due course.
